Welcome to the Joshua Tree Region of the California Association for the Gifted. This regional news is designed to keep educators, parents, and students aware of events and resources in the Joshua Tree Region and throughout California. Please contact your regional representatives, Julia and Jennifer, if you have questions, have local resources to share, or would like to become more involved.

Membership

Membership in CAG supports advocacy efforts for gifted students in the state legislature, continued educator training opportunities, direct access to the Gifted Educator Communicator, and discounted conference fees.

The University of California Riverside extension offers a certificate in Gifted Education

The UCR Extension GATE certificate is a 15.0 quarter unit program that is entirely online.  Take it to the next level by applying up to nine quarter units from the program toward a Master of Education with an emphasis in Equity and Diversity through the Graduate School of Education at UCR.  Visit www.extension.ucr.edu to learn more about this program and to view the latest course catalog.  For additional information about bringing the GATE certificate program or classes to your school or district site, please contact Lupita Villalobos, Public Education Specialistatlvillalobos@ucx.ucr.edu or Karen Dodson, GATE Coordinator at kdodson@ucx.ucr.edu.
