Welcome to the Redwood Region of the California Association for the Gifted. This regional news is designed to keep educators, parents, and students aware of events and resources in the Redwood Region and throughout California. Please contact your regional representative if you have questions, have local resources to share, or would like to become more involved.
Membership in CAG supports advocacy efforts for gifted students in the state legislature, continued educator training opportunities, direct access to the Gifted Educator Communicator, and discounted conference fees.
Breakout sessions with experienced practitioners in differentiation feature GATE Standards to create challenging, dynamic lessons for all students in Common Core Classrooms. Strands will focus on Cluster Grouping, Acceleration, Depth,
Complexity, and Novelty.

Parenting Advanced Learners Classes!
The California Parenting Institute, a local non-profit, is offering one new cycle of “Parenting Advanced Learners.” This series provides a comprehensive overview of parenting gifted children, including meeting social/emotional needs, asynchrony, intensity, sensitivity, peer relationships, motivation, depression, twice exceptional children, self-regulation, frustration tolerance, perfectionism, advocacy, and a reminder of ways parents can take care of themselves too! Please consider signing up for this group, which offers good company, support, and lively discussion.

Classroom Observation Opportunities
The Redwood Region offers opportunities to observe differentiated instruction as follows:
On the second Tuesday of each month, Santa Rosa Accelerated Charter School offers an opportunity for CAG members to view lessons in depth and complexity in 6th grade classrooms. Please contact Anna Williams at firstname.lastname@example.org to make an appointment.
